Helen Baker Schlosser, "Gam"

Matriarch of the SAP Clan, "Gam" was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1902, married Walter Schlosser in 1926. Children: John, Jane (Alton) and Judy (Peacocke). Her lifetime spanned from Kitty Hawk to Nirvana. Her regal presence defined the extended family, whom she hosted every Christmas Eve for over three decades.

Walter Schlosser

Athlete, soldier, attorney, entrepreneur, Walter was born in 1892 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and was married to Helen Baker (Schlosser) from 1926 until his passing in 1956. Helen never remarried and Walter has remained a significant figure in the family lore.

Four Generations

This extraordinary photograph shows four generations of women in the family. Left to Right: "Gam" Helen Baker, (b.1902), sits on the lap of her grandmother Phoebe (Wright) Wilson (b.1853). Behind them is Gam's mother Candace (Wilson) Baker (b.1876) and seated next to her is Gam's great-grandmother Galetsy (Gowey) Wright (b.1819). Gam's sister Dorothy (Baker) Sherman (b.1901), lounges on a divan in the foreground.

Four Generations, Take Two

A brilliant echo of the previous "Four Generatoins" photograph. From left to right: Gam (b.1902), stands behind her mother, Candace (Wilson) Baker (b.1876), who holds Jill Peacocke, (b.1958). Gam's daughter - and Jill's mother - Judy (Schlosser) Peacocke (b. 1935) surveys proceedings from her impressive height.
